

Position Overview The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for providing strategic financial leadership to a multi-unit convenience store and fuel retail organization. This role oversees all financial functions, drives disciplined growth, ensures financial integrity, and partners closely with the CEO, operations, and board to optimize profitability across fuel, inside sales, food service, and ancillary revenue streams. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in retail, fuel, food service, or multi-site operations, with a hands-on approach, strong business acumen, and the ability to translate financial insights into actionable operational decisions. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Strategic & Executive Leadership • Serve as a strategic business partner to the CEO and executive team, providing financial insight to support growth, margin expansion, and capital allocation decisions. • Lead long-range financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modeling aligned with company strategy. • Support M&A activity, including due diligence, valuation modeling, integration planning, and post-acquisition performance tracking. • Present financial results, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to the Board of Directors, investors, or ownership groups. Financial Operations & Controls • Oversee all accounting, finance, treasury, tax, audit, and compliance functions. • Ensure timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting. • Maintain strong internal controls, risk management practices, and compliance with regulatory requirements (fuel tax, environmental, state, and federal). • Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, fuel supply financing, and working capital optimization. Retail & Fuel Economics • Drive profitability across fuel margins, inside sales, foodservice, loyalty programs, and promotions. • Partner with operations and merchandising to analyze pricing, shrink, labor, and category performance. • Monitor fuel margin volatility, inventory valuation, and wholesale pricing impacts. • Develop KPIs and dashboards to track store-level and enterprise performance. Technology, Data & Process Improvement • Oversee financial systems, ERP/POS integrations, fuel management systems, and reporting tools. • Champion data-driven decision-making through advanced analytics and performance measurement. • Identify and implement process improvements to scale the business efficiently. Team Leadership & Culture • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team. • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement. • Serve as a collaborative partner to operations, HR, IT, and marketing leaders. ________________________________________ Qualifications & Experience Required • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred). • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior finance role. • Experience in convenience retail, fuel, multi-unit retail, foodservice, or closely related industries. • Strong understanding of P&L management, cash flow, capital planning, and financial modeling. • Proven ability to lead through growth, change, and complexity.
